Terms & Conditions of Trade
Governing all international acquisitions, curated collections, and custom sacred foundry commissions with Handmade Handicraft, Kathmandu, Nepal.
1. Handcrafted Artisan Nature & Tolerances
Handmade Handicraft is a direct manufacturer and authorized exporter of traditional Nepalese art, including lost-wax cast Buddhist bronze statues, hand-painted thangkas, hand-hammered 7-metal singing bowls, Lokta paper goods, and Himalayan cashmere textiles.
All artifacts featured on this website are sculpted, beaten, painted, and finished entirely by human hands. We do not use industrial mass-production stamping or automated robotics. Consequently, minor variations in weight (±5%), hand-chased ornamentation, and mineral pigment shading are natural attributes of authentic handmade art and are celebrated as hallmarks of uniqueness.
2. Pricing Terms & FOB Kathmandu
Unless otherwise specified in a formal proforma invoice, all standard prices are quoted in United States Dollars (USD) on a FOB (Free on Board) Kathmandu, Nepal basis. Freight, courier fuel surcharges, and destination import taxes are calculated separately based on volumetric weight and consignee country.
Because copper, bronze, tin, and 24K gold market bullion prices fluctuate, quotes for bespoke casting are valid for 30 calendar days from the date of issue. Once an order inquiry is confirmed and deposit received, the agreed unit price is strictly guaranteed against any market fluctuations.
3. Order Confirmation & Payment Schedules
- Advance Deposit for Production: In accordance with the Export Promotion & Foreign Exchange Regulations of the Government of Nepal, a 50% advance deposit is required at the time of order confirmation to procure bullion and commence artisan foundry casting.
- Balance Prior to Dispatch: The remaining 50% balance, together with final freight charges, must be settled upon completion of production and inspection, prior to dispatch from Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM).
- Curio & In-Stock Masterpieces: In-stock statues and ready gallery inventory require 100% payment prior to courier pickup, with immediate dispatch within 36 to 48 hours.
4. Custom Deity & Monastic Commissions
We welcome custom commissions from Buddhist monasteries, temples, yoga centers, and private collectors for custom deity dimensions, specific mudras, and finishes (e.g., full 24K fire gold gilding, antique chocolate oxidation, or silver inlay).
Clients must provide detailed iconographic references, dimensions, or drawings. Because custom molds and waxes are destroyed during the lost-wax casting process, advance deposits for bespoke custom orders are non-refundable once casting has commenced.
5. Transit, Title & Risk of Loss
All shipments dispatched via DHL Express, FedEx, or Aramex are covered by comprehensive transit insurance. Title and risk of loss transfer to the consignee upon delivery by the courier at the destination address.
In the event of physical damage occurring during courier transit, the client must notify Handmade Handicraft within 48 hours of receipt with clear photographic evidence of both outer packaging and the artifact. We will immediately coordinate an insurance claim and arrange a replacement or refund.
6. Destination Customs Duties & Taxes
Consignees are responsible for compliance with their country’s import regulations and payment of any local customs duties, excise, or Value Added Tax (VAT) assessed at the border. Handmade Handicraft provides complete, certified commercial invoices and authentic Certificates of Origin to facilitate smooth customs clearance under international fine art (HS 9703) schedules.
7. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These terms of trade and any agreements entered into shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Nepal. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kathmandu, Nepal.
