Ocean Drum

An ocean drum is a percussion instrument that is designed to create the sound of ocean waves. It typically consists of a round, shallow frame with a drumhead on one or both sides, and small metal balls or beads inside the frame. When tilted back and forth or shaken, the beads move around and create a sound similar to ocean waves.
Ocean drums can come in various sizes, materials, and designs, and can be played with hands or drumsticks. They are often used in sound healing and meditation practices, as well as in music therapy and in musical performances for creating ambient or atmospheric soundscapes.

Centuries-Old Lost-Wax Metal Casting

Each sculpture at Handmade Handicraft is crafted using the ancient cire-perdue (lost-wax) technique, a craft perfected over a millennium by the Newar artisans of Patan. The process begins with sculpting beeswax and Himalayan tree resin by hand. A multi-layered clay mold is formed around the wax, which is melted away in the furnace, creating a void that is filled with molten red copper or bronze.
